Debbie Panarese's Story

Debbie has been a support group leader for the past 20 years and was a Hep C patient herself. She was infected from a blood transfusion at the age of four during a surgery. While donating blood at a school blood drive 36 years later, she found out she had Hep C. After two rounds of treatment she is now virus free. She started the group to provide emotional support for the newly diagnosed, as well as friends and family members. She is passionate about Hep C and hopes to keep helping many others’ needs for years to come. She has taken part in speaking engagements at drug companies, interviews with Living Healthy Chicago, and also is active on the board of the American Liver Foundation.
