Corrine's Story

In 2011, I was diagnosed with Non Alcohol Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). It was a huge shock to me since I never had any major health issues. But after having a substantial amount of fluid removed, I felt so much better and my condition stabilized...but not for long.

One year later I required surgery to help my body utilize a part of my liver that was functioning better. It was after that surgery I was told a transplant was inevitable and my name was placed on the transplant list.

Shortly after that surgery my body stopped making blood. My name was moved up on the list. I was so fortunate... my wait was not very long.

In January of 2013, I received the gift that saved my life. Two and a half years later, I'm very happy, very healthy and so grateful to be alive. I didn't get here alone. I had help from a tremendous team of Doctors and Nurses at Loyola, an extremely supportive family, and a very selfless person who made the decision to be an organ donor. I am so grateful to all of them.
