Deep River Snacks Give a Chip

Snack Company Gives a Chip about Liver Disease

For years, the American Liver Foundation has been featured on every bag of Deep River Snacks’ Mesquite BBQ Potato Chips. This month, Deep River expands its effort to raise awareness about liver disease via an advertising campaign in airports across the United States.

Why does Deep River Snacks give a chip?

Deep River Snacks founder, Jim Goldberg, is a father of 3 young boys. His middle son, Meyer, was diagnosed in January 2010 with PSC (Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis- learn more about the condition here and see our infographic here) and Crohn’s Disease – both diseases that affect the liver. “The American Liver Foundation has been an important organization to the family,” Mr. Goldberg said.

The Goldberg family is actively involved in raising funds to support the American Liver Foundation by participating in the Liver Life Walks ever since Meyer was diagnosed with liver disease. Naming his team, Meyers Dragons, each year Meyer’s team has grown and raised more funds.

As Mr. Goldberg explains, “It’s not just Meyer. More than 30 million people in the United States have one of dozens of liver diseases. We need to increase awareness and help patients, everywhere.”

Deep River puts its money where its mouth is. The company is committed to donating at least 10% of net profits to charities each year.
