The American Liver Foundation is making news on topics including liver wellness, disease prevention, screening and treatment.

Some highlights:

106.7, Lite FM (New York)

NMAC Member Douglas Dieterich, professor of medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, was featured in a segment about hepatitis C that aired on December 14, 2014.

KGUN9-TV, Tucson (ABC)

Thomas Boyer, MD, a member of the American Liver Foundation’s Desert Southwest medical advisory committee and director at the Liver Research Institute of Arizona, was featured in a story highlighting the Second Annual Liver Life Walk in Tucson on December 11, 2014.

WISN-TV and WTMJ-TV, Milwaukee

The American Liver Foundation garnered strong media attention for ALF’s Upper Midwest Division’s Skate for Liver Health event with former Olympian Bonnie Blair. Television coverage that aired on November 27, 2014 featured interviews with the decorated athlete and highlighted the importance of meeting the liver health needs of communities throughout Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

San Antonio Express

National Medical Advisory Committee Member F. Blaine Hollinger, MD, was featured in the November 21, 2014 issue about the connection between obesity and liver disease. Dr. Hollinger is a professor of medicine, molecular virology and epidemiology and director of the Eugene B. Casey Hepatitis Research Center at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Tampa Bay Times

ALF Connecticut Division Vice Chairman Renuka Umashanker, MD, was featured in an article about the role bariatric surgery may play in helping to treat liver disease published November 20, 2014. Dr. Umashanker practices at the Gastroenterology Center of Connecticut and is affiliated with Yale New Haven Hospital/Saint Raphael Campus, Milford Hospital and Yale-New Haven Hospital.
