Natasha Daniels- Autoimmune Hepatitis, Liver Transplant survivor

My name is Natasha and I am a 36 year old transplant survivor. I am happy to say that this makes me have two birthdays, one on December 19, 2010 and the other on December 28, 1979. However, this was not how I always felt. During my sophomore year of undergrad, I was told I had Hepatitis C, but they weren’t sure how. Due to all of the bad media on Hepatitis, I automatically felt dirty and ashamed. After lots of testing, they found it was not through sex or anything hygienic. Over the years I went through many changes, lots of different medications, I was put on a transplant list, my body went through numerous changes, and so did my marriage. My job(s) would be affected, the way others seen me, and most of all; my children were forever changed. Today, I still go through ups and downs because I have not stabilized, I take an average of 26 pills a day, but I am alive and able to see my children grow. Along with this I am owning more of what I went through, what I am going through, and where I want to be in the future. Cheers to more years to come!

Shelley Rossell- Hepatitis C

Shelley is a Technology Manager for TD Bank in Mount Laurel, NJ. Shelley is a lifelong South Jersey resident who has been and American Liver Foundation supporter since her Hepatitis C diagnosis in 2009. Through sheer luck, Shelley was diagnosed before experiencing any symptoms. After giving blood for the first time, it was discovered that she had an active Hepatitis C infection, likely as a result of transfusions when she was born. A liver biopsy revealed inflammation, but thankfully no cirrhosis! Shelley's first round of treatment with Ribavirin and Pegasys failed in 2010. She is happy to report that her second attempt at treatment with Olysio and Sovaldi, which was completed in December 2014, was successful, and she is now Hep C Free!
Shelley is a member of the American Liver Foundation's National Patient Advisory Committee for Hepatitis C.
